Here you get the idea of how difficult it is to move the liner around once it's rolled out, so getting it in the right spot the first time is a wise idea. Be sure to leave a generous amount outside of the hole, and do not trim it until you have filled it completely with water. The weight of the water will hold it firmly in place, and the pressure forces the liner to lay flat with no air pockets, making it much easier to trim to the right size. You also want to leave more than you think you'll need, as we found out after the first big storm hit and we had to redo some of the border. We were very glad we had that extra material to work with.
