We tucked the liner under the outermost layer of brick and used grey bricks for the inner layer that would be visible. Notice how we left enough space between some of the bricks to allow space for lights, and the wires can either be tucked between the bricks, or along the cedar border edge for easier servicing. We found that lighting located nearer to the water that's moving, like under the waterfall's splash zone created the most dramatic effect. Unless you can get the lights exactly at the water line, they are barely visible in still water. We began toppping off the bricks with flagstone. We decided not to mortar the flagstone or the bricks, as the only feet that should be on them are those of the ducks and turtles when they are basking. And we always have the option of changing things around if we want.
